Midjourney full length landing pages: tips and tricks.

Midjourney can be a great way to jumpstart your creative process.  It can brainstorm layouts, ideas, and art direction by providing a broad range of results quickly.  However, it can only deliver broad concepts and has limitations with text and images. For those reasons, He cannot be relied on as a holistic tool for web design. I will outline the prompt I'm using to generate consistent full-length landing pages, as well as some tips and tricks for reducing the work it takes to get a mock-up of the final product.

The prompt:

landing page design flat ui ux ui/ux::3 mother's day flowers Paper Cut Acid rose red --ar 4:7

“landing page design flat ui ux ui/ux::3”

My “secret sauce keywords” that have been delivering a consistent result.

mother's day flowers”

Enter the business or objects you want to include in the landing page.

“Paper Cut”

is an art style that I want to be applied to the landing page

“Acid rose red”

Midjourney doesn’t understand hex or RGB colour codes, so the workaround is using coolors.co to convert colour codes to a text representation.

“--ar 4:7”

AR stands for aspect ratio.  Midjourney can handle the following types of aspect ratios 4:5, 2:3, 4:7, 1:1, 5:4, 3:2, 7:4

Tips and tricks:

  • You may be tempted to get text or letters into Midjourney, but it's challenging and inconsistent at this stage.  I don’t recommend you try it.
  • I’ve tried to use images containing brand styles (logo, colours and font), hoping they will be generated in the images, but it did not work.
  • Upgrade To a premium account to send private messages to mid-journey. This declutters your workstation and gives you privacy. You will also be provided more credits to continue your work.
  • Less is more! I’ve found that entering too many styles, items, or prompts will produce unintended results.  It’s also more challenging to refine the results with multiple variables.

You can generate many ideas and concepts with this method, but it will take a lot of trial and error. I've created a tool to make experimenting faster, and you can give it a try here

Happy experimenting! Follow me on dribbble and I'll do the same!
